About the Project
Global Fire and Security Ltd required a modern digital solution to replace outdated, paper-based processes used by engineers to track and service fire panel assets on-site. With a variety of fire panel types, manufacturers, and models—including both conventional and addressable systems—the new solution needed to be flexible, mobile-friendly, and compliant with industry regulations. An additional requirement was the ability to automatically generate certificates of service that could be instantly shared with clients after each visit.
Our Solution
Varciti developed a bespoke cloud-connected mobile application tailored for use on engineers’ PDAs. The app is designed to simplify the servicing workflow, provide dynamic asset tracking, and automate certification—all while ensuring compliance with relevant fire safety standards.
Core Features and Functionality:
A real-time, centralised database stores all fire panel asset information. Engineers can instantly access panel records, site history, and servicing requirements from any location.
- Engineer-Focused UX Design:
The mobile interface was purpose-built for field engineers:
- Optimised for use on rugged PDAs and smartphones
- Simple, tap-through design with built-in validation
- Works reliably in offline mode with sync-on-connect
- Automated Certificate Generation:
Once a service visit is completed, the system generates a fully formatted service certificate overnight, using input from the database. These are emailed automatically to:
- The client’s central records team
- The site contact/customer being serviced
- Compliance Assurance:
Certificates are fully compliant with BS 5839-1 standards, ensuring traceability and audit-readiness for all fire panel servicing activities.
