Overview

Sheffield Teaching Hospital is one of the largest and most well-established hospital networks in the UK, providing a wide range of healthcare services. As part of their commitment to cutting-edge patient care and efficient hospital management, the hospital utilizes a network of graphics PCs and monitoring devices, including the Drax AMX systems, for operational and safety purposes.

To ensure that these systems were interconnected and functioning seamlessly across various departments, Sheffield Teaching Hospital required support to establish reliable network connectivity for all graphics PCs and monitoring devices. The solution needed to integrate seamlessly with the existing hospital infrastructure and align with safety and compliance standards.

Project Objectives

  • Establish reliable network connectivity for Drax AMX graphics PCs and monitoring devices.
  • Work collaboratively with the fire alarm provider and the hospital's IT department to interlink all relevant devices.
  • Ensure smooth integration of the devices into the hospital’s IT and safety systems for continuous operation.
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting and support to ensure system reliability.

Challenges

The main challenge was coordinating between multiple stakeholders, including the fire alarm provider and the hospital IT department, to ensure all devices were integrated properly. Network reliability was critical to ensuring that monitoring devices and graphics PCs functioned without interruption, especially given the importance of the systems for hospital operations.

Additionally, troubleshooting and maintenance had to be completed without disrupting hospital operations or impacting the quality of patient care.

Our Solution

We provided a seamless solution that brought together all necessary systems and ensured reliable connectivity for all devices:

  1. Collaboration with Stakeholders
Our team worked closely with both the fire alarm provider and the hospital IT department to ensure proper integration of all systems. This collaboration was essential for connecting the Drax AMX graphics PCs and monitoring devices with the hospital's existing network infrastructure.

  2. Network Connectivity Setup
We configured and established reliable network connections for all graphics PCs and monitoring devices across the hospital. The setup ensured stable, uninterrupted connectivity, allowing the devices to communicate seamlessly with each other and with the central monitoring systems.

  3. Integration with Hospital Infrastructure
The devices were successfully integrated into the hospital’s wider IT and safety infrastructure, ensuring that data was transmitted and accessed efficiently and securely. The solution supported both operational functions and emergency alerts, with particular attention to safety and compliance requirements.

  4. Troubleshooting and Ongoing Support
Once the systems were in place, our team provided ongoing troubleshooting and support to ensure continuous, smooth operation. Any issues related to network performance, device connectivity, or system integration were promptly addressed, minimizing disruptions to hospital operations.
