Overview
Global Fire & Security, a leading provider of fire and security solutions, identified a growing need to better manage and secure its fleet of mobile devices used by field engineers, sales staff, and management teams. With over 100 mobile devices in daily use, there were increasing concerns around data security, unauthorised application use, and the risk of intellectual property loss due to device theft or misuse.
Additionally, the manual deployment and configuration of business-critical apps was inefficient and inconsistent, leading to support issues and increased operational overhead.
Our Solution
Varciti worked closely with Global Fire & Security to deploy Miradore Mobile Device Management (MDM) across their entire mobile estate. The solution was rolled out in phases to ensure minimal disruption and was designed to integrate seamlessly with existing workflows and security policies.
1. Full Device Enrolment
- Over 100 devices—including smartphones and tablets—were enrolled into the Miradore platform
- Devices were grouped by role (e.g., field engineers, sales, management) to apply targeted policies and configurations
2. Security & Theft Protection
- Enabled remote locking and wiping to secure sensitive data if devices were lost or stolen
- Enforced device encryption, strong passcodes, and restrictions on non-approved apps
- Configured geolocation tracking for fleet oversight and security audits
3. Streamlined App Deployment
- Standardised and automated the installation of key business applications
- Configured role-based app access, ensuring users only had tools relevant to their function
- Set up remote update and patching to reduce support requirements and keep software current
4. Ongoing Management & Expansion
- Built-in dashboards and alerting gave IT full visibility of all device statuses in real-time
- The MDM system continues to be actively used, expanded, and updated as part of Global Fire & Security’s core IT operations
